A Message from Our Chairman
Like so many people and businesses, the last couple of years have been quite challenging. Just when we thought things would begin to get better, inflation skyrocketed and a war broke out in Ukraine both of which have directly impacted all of us. The St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center is no exception.
Spring is when contracts and plans are made for the holiday season. This includes the holiday concerts that are performed in our beautifully decorated fresco gallery. Unfortunately, we could not commit to any performance group due to the uncertainty of oil prices, The predicted rates would certainly not be cost effective for either the Center or the performance groups. Fortunately, oil rates have begun to come down but are still high. On top of that, in the summer, it was announced that electrical rates would dramatically increase this October.
With the higher oil rates and the increase in electrical rates, we will be closing the upstairs main fresco gallery early this year. The last day of tours for the 2022 season will be December 4th and, unfortunately, the fresco gallery will not be decorated for the holidays. We will be puting as many cost saving measures into place including turning off the lights that illuminate the beautiful bronze statue by famed Italian artist Ercole Drei, that sits outside above the main entrance.
The lower hall will continue to operate, hosting the Center's annual functions, such as those listed in our coming events, as well as the Northern Rhode Island Council of the Arts' annual Mardi Gras.
We hope you can attend at least one or more of the events. If you can't, please consider making a donation to the St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center to help us through the winter.
Thank you for your continued support!!
Wally Rathbun, Chairman
